THE BLOODY BEETROOTS is an Italian electronic dance music project established in 2006 by Robert Rifo (born in the region of Veneto, northern Italy, but now residing in Beverly Hills, California) known professionaly as Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo.
The name Bloody Beetroots is both used as a pseudonym for the solo projects of Sir Bob (production, guitar, keyboards, DJ) as well as his formation with Tommy Tea (sampling).
Given the various statements about the project winding-down around the time of Chaos and Confusion tour, with perhaps SBCR taking precedence, it comes as something of a surprise that Rifo has now announced a fresh album “The Great Electronic Swindle” due October 20th via Last Gang Records.
Tour dates (below) are also planned.
The album features some imaginative collaborations with the greats of 21st century rock… such as Jane’s Addiction front-man Perry Farrell, the UK hardcore punksters Gallows, the In Flames front-man Anders Friden, the lead singer of Rival Sons, Jay Buchanan, deadmau5 vocalist Greta Svabo Bech, Foxy Shazam singer Eric Nally, and L.A. rock duo Deap Vally and many more…
If it’s anything like as powerful, magnificent and hyper-overexcited as the double A-side single and track “My Name Is Thunder” (video below) then this should be one helluva party… Thunderstruck? huh?
If you like the idea of emotionally intellectual electronic dance-music, then this is a must for you…
As the Bloody Beetroots explain, “This is the first time I have used so many vocalists and lyrics in The Bloody Beetroots music. I chose the greatest vocalists I knew that could help tell the story of about four years of life...”
“The title is a tribute to the Sex Pistols and the film ‘The Great Rock and Roll Swindle’ directed by Julian Temple. It was a sign of the end of an era. The end of Punk. I want to reclaim that for electronic music because the business squeezed the genre so much that they delivered the end of electronic music itself...”
“We are living in a great electronic swindle...”
