The genius slider and zesty-zeitgeisty blues-songbird SAMANTHA FISH brings her “Dream Girl” video to audiences (shared below) — the song is taken from her most recent studio album “Kill Or Be Kind” — which we thought was “an album of resolution and tenacity…” when we gave it FIVE STARS in September 2019.
“Dream Girl is about trying to be something you’re not. Someone else’s ideal or fantasy,” Samantha says.
“The video has ‘real-life Samantha’ looking for answers and inspiration. The heroine in the story might have all the pieces of what she’s looking to be, but she is still wandering through a fairy tale. There are no happy endings when you are trying to measure up for someone else. If you don’t own who you are, you’ll still end up lost in the woods.”
In fact, for us, “Dream Girl” was a high mark of a magnificent album: a song that weaves a flawless voice with just a hint of regret and confiscation over the meekest ‘n’ earthiest rippled-riff you’ve ever heard — with a garniture of flutterboard bottleneck-slide at around-about centrepoint. The vocal is on the frosty-side of mellow, like witnessing the palest moon through fluttering cobwebs. The lamenting aesthetic is sincere and dignified… A true masterpiece.
