The soulful pop country artist LAURA EVANS is releasing her new single ‘Drag Me Back In’ this weekend.
This is the second single to be taken from her next EP titled ‘Running Back to You’ — due to be released on Friday, July 31, 2020.
Born in Aberdare, the South Wales, the chanteuse’s sounds have been featured on several American TV shows, on CMT. She performed at the C2C “Country 2 Country” music festival at London’s O2 Arena, and supported the popular country act The Shires in concert.
And on her last trip to Nashville, she played in the famous “Bluebird Cafe“. Laura also had an impact on superstar Drake, who was so impressed with her that he invited her to sing at his mother’s birthday party!
Laura co-wrote the new release “Drag Me Back In” with successful Los Angeles blues & soul artist Desi Valentine and producer Nicolas Gruter. This collaboration brought a magical swirl of influences;
“I met Desi in 2012 in LA,” says Laura, “ I knew I wanted to write something soulful and I knew Desi would push me to bring that rockier, edgier side out of me too.”
Laura Evans is best known for her soul-style ballads and country storytelling tunes, but Drag me Back In’ is a little different. It shows Laura’s willingness to cross limits and expand her reach. Although her vocal style often compares favorably to Stevie Nicks — in this song we see her develop Bonnie Raitt-style powerfulness — bringing a sense of sexy, well-controlled, badass sharpness.
Laura explains the inspiration for the song: “I had just been through a pretty bad break-up. I remember feeling pretty damn angry about it all at the time we wrote this, so needless to say that came across in my verses. The meaning is kinda dark, in that as much as we all know love is hard and heartbreaking, it always gets the better of us and ‘drags us back in’, so I think that’s something we can all relate to.”
