ROBERT JON + The WRECK — Ascendant

Bursting with unbridled creativity, Southern roots rockers ROBERT JON & THE WRECK release their new album: Red Moon Rising on June 28th, via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.

We’ve said in the past their sounds possess the curative power to repair all life’s wounds.

With Robert Jon Burrison on lead vox + guitar, Andrew Espantman on drums + vox , Henry James Schneekluth on lead guitar + vox, Warren Murrel on bass, and with the recent addition of Jake Abernathie on keys, there is absolutely no denying this band’s unparalleled artistic chemistry.

We had an early listen to the album:

With a corrugated thrang right from the get-go, Stone Cold Killer features sing-along verses, a clappy chorus and slams of key-action with upbeat backing vocals. It’s an explosive winner!

will transfigurate your shinbones and make your tenderloins tingle!

Raw Ramp

With silver-studded bombast and alligator bootstrap styling, Trouble (video shared below) sashays down easy street and sounds a lot like Bon Jovi, except this material has more growls per square metre, more country-fed jingle-jangles, and a really explosive guitar break that will transfigurate your shinbones and make your tenderloins tingle! Unbearably scorching!

Give Love is a beautifully crafted, country-flavored rock ‘n’ roll song that captures the essence of the Doobie Brothers and showcases tender rhythms and conscious lyrics.

According to reports, the song Dragging Me Down went through various revisions until producer Kevin Shirley molded it into an incredibly impressive form. Captured at the renowned Village in Santa Monica, this recounts a catastrophic encounter, emphasized by intense drums, lively guitars, and an impassioned vocal delivery that compels the audience to engage in the narrative!

The title track Red Moon Rising hits hard with wolfdog intensity and soars on thermic eddies like an eagle in a corkscrew: a blend of rich organ notes and crisp rhythms. The vocal here has a crunchy and blistering quality, reminiscent of red pepper & bread crumbs. And once the guitar solo emerges, it unleashes a yelp that can only be compared to the roar of a swamp monster as it seeks freedom.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
