Italian collective Casa Del Mirto are set to release their upcoming full length ‘Still’ on January 26th via Ghost Records.
Active since 2006, the band were once a more dance floor-friendly project started by founding member Marco Ricci.
Tthe band, now completed by Luigi Segnana on bass and Raffaele Ricci on synth have evolved significantly since their first 2 albums Supertrendycoolfashion and Numero Uno.
These days the sounds of Casa del Mirto are more synonymous with lush arrangements and carefully crafted, atmospheric soundscapes.
We have been listening to Pressure released on Varese label Ghost Records.
This starts with a ribald, plugging beat.
The funky eighties sound-track soon starts…slinking into view.
With this, the generous synths arrive.
Then sheeny silks of wide, luxuriously high ‘n’ pure voices ring out.
These glow – gleaming, like sweat-drenched skin on an island beach.
This is familiar if you remember the glory days of Tears for Fears, Shalamar and, perhaps, even Bros.
But there is a distinctive sadness to be felt too …
This is a passionate, dramatic experience.
A gold-laced dance track that hides a heart of pain.
