Kevin Shirley chose this song for us,” Joanne explains.

It speaks to the universal quest for love and the profound joy in finding someone who truly complements your spirit. With this reinterpretation, I wanted to honor the essence of Van Morrison’s original while infusing it with my own blues inflected style. It’s about the journey, the longing, and ultimately, the discovery of love that feels predestined.”

JST Heavy Soul

Someone Like You” follows the release of “Heavy Soul,” the title track from her forthcoming studio album, due June 7th via Journeyman Records.

Heavy Soul derives from Joanne’s artistic concept of connecting the blues roots explored on her previous album, Nobody’s Fool, with more contemporary stamp of soul.

Therefore, the new album is a clever synthesis of classic blues traditions and modern soul-pop. A diverse cast of skilled musicians, including Rob McNelley, Alison Presswood, and Anton Fig, combine their distinctive skills on an album that should not be missed.
