MARC BROUSSARD Chance Worth Taking

MARC BROUSSARD, the acclaimed Louisiana singer-songwriter who is internationally known for heartfelt and meaningful soul, is releasing his first full album of original blues, “Chance Worth Taking” on April 17th 2026, via KTBA Records. This release marks a significant creative turning point for the artist.

Broussard’s voice offers a rich, poignant quality, evocative of the dark, smoky depths of the perpetually darkening swamps of Louisiana. We’ve noted that Broussard’s songs tend to encapsulate the grandeur of the moment and the inherent drama of the age, but simultaneously convey an underlying feeling of regret and misgiving. All this, while his unique butterscotch voice is an unctuous treat for the ears!

The impressive 14-song album, produced by Joe Bonamassa, Josh Smith, and Calvin Turner, sees Broussard collaborating with Bonamassa again.

Bonamassa not only produced but also provided exceptional guitar playing and captivating solos on ten outstanding tracks, three of which he co-wrote with Broussard. Josh Smith, a key figure in this exceptional creative ensemble, contributed to and co-authored four songs. Calvin Turner, who collaborated with Broussard on ten original songs for the album and added rich string and horn arrangements, completes this talented group.

Chance Worth Taking” features a stylistic change for the artist, yet remains archetypically Broussard. The album is held together by his distinctive “bayou soul” voice, which blends spirit and benevolence in equal measure, connecting a wide range of styles… from robust backroom shuffles to wisdomful blues, thru energetic blues-rock, and to funk with a triumphant Mardi Gras feel.

Calvin Turner initiated the album by suggesting a collection of original blues songs and providing Broussard with fifteen instrumental pieces. Then, Broussard wrote the lyrics for these pieces with an almost supernatural intensity. “I would wake up at 6:00 a.m. and write until 11:00 p.m. I’d be in the studio sweating like a madman,” he remembers. Three frantic days were spent completing the songs, followed by studio refinement with Bonamassa.

“When we got into the studio, Joe wasn’t fully convinced we had a blues album, so he added to the songs we already had, and we wrote three others together. In the end, we got to the promised land.

Chance Worth Taking,” a soul ballad with a gospel chorus, and “Sweet Love,” a timeless ballad featuring rich harmonies and abundant strings, will delight fans of Broussard’s classic style.

The album ends with a New Orleans-style farewell, featuring the brassy, energetic “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler,” a track co-authored by Trombone Shorty and Broussard.
