Ethereal Irish folk pop duo Saint Sister — comprising of Gemma Doherty and Morgan MacIntyr — will release their debut EP Madrid via Trout Records on 13th November.
It is a collision of haunting electronic glitch, heavenly harps and deeply personal lyrics — a combination of sounds that the band refer to as “atmosfolk.”
To get us in the mood for their tour [dates below] we have been listening to the title track from the EP ‘Madrid’ —
This lollops like a lame biped stumbling through thorns.
With a chanting vocal riff that reminds us (insanely) of Swedish dance outfit Army of Lovers.
And with a posture that remains unruffled and smooth… all the way through.
The bony frilled melody will perforate the hypnotic state of your soft tissue… Leading to gentle addiction…
The textures are soft and almost yielding… were in not for the force that passes through the sounds… it could even be described as gentle. But, actually, it’s like twin leopards treading cautiously after unsuspecting prey.
