Pompeya Power

Russian pop/funk outfit Pompeya are set to release the Tropical Remix Compilation on December 10 on Brooklyn label No Shame.

The compilation follows the Oct 29 release of their debut album – “Tropical.”

French DJ/Producer Fred Falke has remixed “90”, marking the first single release from the Tropical Remix Compilation.

With roots firmly established in their Russian homeland – including extensive touring and TV appearances-Pompeya are broadening their reach to the U.S. and beyond with their distinct blend of 70s disco, 80s New Wave, and 90s indie rock.

Pompeya shortDrawing inspiration from 70s disco, 80s New Wave and 90s indie rock, Moscow’s Pompeya weaves vibrant harmonies, melodic synth lines, and punchy guitar riffs to create unabashed indie pop.

We listened to POWER.  Here’s what we thought:

‘Power’ from the ‘Tropical’ release is a juicy pomegranate of a tune.

A plethora of ribald raspberry burps inside a cocktail of loquacious bumps and grinding bass notes. A shimmering vocal fans out wonderfully to create a lustrous spread – then the lead voice tenderly trips in and regularly paces through some vivid golden guitar-ruffles (reminiscent of Nile Rodgers.)

Power has the most gorgeous groovy beat you have heard since 1978  This is one groovy hustle ma-an.

Watch for Pompeya near you. The future (and the past) of dance.
