If you like the idea of your rockabilly riffs played with an air of jejune and breezy bravado – then this is, perhaps, the band for you.
The female fronted Voodoo Sci-Fi Blues Band from Reading (UK) comprise of Hatty Taylor on vocals, Nigel Firth on guitar and Scott Lawrence percussion.
Their new video “Feeling Good” is a treat:
The ska rhythms bubble and squeak below Hatty’s ‘Aunt Sally’ voice.
This vocal comes through the choke-coils as clearly and as resoundingly as the cries from a circus bellhop clanger on the early shift.
As the song progresses from the simple ska rock formula – to a far more majestic out-pouring – the song begins to bloom with great abandon.
But it is still filled with quirky back-spins, fidgety bed-springs and slippery tail-fins.
It’s all good carnival fun.
And will surely delight your bobbins off.
