Mapei Believes

Mapei [Jacqueline Mapei Cummings] brings palpable soul and sonic versatility to a world where genre matters less and less.

The Stockholm native soaks up influences – from hip-hop to dance-pop and Swedish club to gospel – and the results feel organic, timeless and positively exuberant. It’s music of experience – well-travelled and alive.

Her debut album ‘Hey Hey’ will be released September 23, 2014.

Mapei’s voice is surprisingly clear. Shiny silvery. And bell like…

We to listened to “Believe” – the third track from ‘Hey Hey’:

Yes – you are quite right.

It seems that this has more or less the same rhythm and melody as “Price Tag” – but this does not mean that there is, necessarily, any problem here.

Because this contains dark bands of swathing, deep sounds (this is far moodier than Jessie J’s track).

It is stormy and cold.

Mapei’s voice is surprisingly clear.

Shiny silvery.  And bell like.

Yet it has the power to knock you off your feet.

This is a large-format piece. Should create waves!
