‘Your EP‘ is the debut release from up and coming New Zealand producer-duo Will and Nick. They call the project SACHI.
Produced between the two teenager’s bedroom studios in Auckland over the last six months, and mastered by Ben Feggans (Flume) of Studios 301 in Sydney – “Your EP” was released this week on New York based label Ralenteer Records.
We have been listening to ‘Your EP’:
‘Golden Tropics’ is as grainy as visual snow. But what begins as a blanket of white noise, residual images and shaky tick-tacks – soon mushrooms into a beautiful thing.
A flamboyant creation of starburst notes and gel-like fibres.
‘India’ is distinctly down-tempo – with yawning notes and a drowsy thump. This builds up into some uneasy shapes made in the sky.
‘Baccai’ reminded us of the “sound” of the thin, mobile tentacles of the hydra – when it reaches out to sting.
‘Coral Way’ is a wonderful collection of carillon sounds.
A series of bronze bells clang out – freely moistened – and all this clamour is set out against the expanding bellows of an open-valve concertina.
This EP is full of shock, shake and resonance.
It is slightly hurdy-gurdy in style and flavour. Very appealing.
