The Incredible Magpie Band, a majestically rocking and rolling Wakefield five piece, have a passion for all things bright and beautiful.
Whilst there’s a proud boasting of 60’s R’n’B and a splattering of Scouse heroes The Las, you are mere seconds into a Magpie track before any attempts at pigeonholing ends and hair standing up on skin begins.

This week they release their double A-sided new single ‘This Chose Me’ / ‘Money’ remixed and produced by Zak Starkey (The Who/Oasis).
We had a listen:
‘This Chose Me’ actually sounds like foundation-era Stones – full of vigour and strut.
Lead singer Lee Knowles sings with triumphant cock-a-hoop bravado.
And the fuzzy guitar harmonics run in-and-out of the vibrant verse like a rat caught in a maze.
The rhythms rattle and roll as the the whole thing runs free – lively as a fresh-painted Vauxhall Victor bursting onto the open-road.
‘Money’comes with some wonderful strumming.
This song reminds us of Pinder/Laine era Moody Blues.
It is wonderfully succulent – with a small margin of pain on the eyebrows. The beat is impetuous and happy – and, of course, the quintessential guitar pokes its nose out of the centre-portion like a whippet smelling the bait.
Vintage R’n’B with pure harmonies and a supreme sense of rhythm that will make your toes chatter.
