Kinkajous is a London based band and the latest project of French duo Adrien Cau and Benoit Parmentier.
Inspired by the new electro-acoustic scene, including the likes of Cinematic Orchestra, Jaga Jazzist, Bonobo, Ibrahim Maalouf and Portico Quartet, Kinkajous alternates powerful drums and mesmerizing sounds with the sensitivity of the clarinet in a unique way.
Their first EP will be released on the 18th October 2014, and will include original tracks, a collaboration with the amazing Mariama – as well as remixes by CHPLN and Krunzcahrt .
The band features Adrien Cau (clarinet/bass clarinet), Benoit Parmentier (drums/percussions), Layla Kim (synths/piano), Rick Tipton (samples/electronic sounds) and Sjur Opsal (bass/double bass).

We listened to Limb:
Heaving, sighing and sweltering. This breathes, belches and yawns at you – like a hippo with his mouth agape.
Wind cycles through this piece – birdsong tickles – and the rhythms confuse and falter.
Then the synth and keys progressively groove – loose and free.
While the bass rubs shoulders with tinkles and cloggy bongs.
This is a vivid mosaic of Afro-Asian wuzzy tabering and clarinet oozing.
A richly elegant banquet of sounds that will stretch your eardrums to infinity…
