Melbourne prog/folk/electronic artist Hayden Calnin has recently played BIGSOUND in Australia – having shot to mini-fame through the American Hit TV Series Suits – which hosted a bunch of Hayden’s tracks.
Now he has released a new single “I Corrupt” taken from the upcoming EP: “Oh, Hunter”.
We had a listen:
A wobbling jelly of sounds to greet the listener at first.
Then an impaired beat ducks and clicks into view – from down a long lonely corridor of emptiness.
The vocal is insanely beautiful – noble against the sparse sounds.
It barely fringes the edges – yet it fills the whole space with yellow moonlight waxiness.
The final portion is like a wonderfully woven garment of sound – it shrouds you within its golden fabric – a lamentation that never weeps.
Winding-sheets of ambient, baroque-style wonder – with a vocal that is so spiritual that it lifts you up and places you at the eternal centre of the universe.
