Honeyblood Choker

Taken from the debut album ‘Honeyblood’ –   the new single “Choker” has just been released.

Glaswegian noise pop duo Honeyblood consisting of Shona McVicar on drums and Stina Tweeddale vocals & guitar – take inspiration from dark and cloudy 1990’s indie rock luminaries like PJ Harvey and Throwing Muses.

We have been listening to Choker:

A choker is a strange ornament – fitted close to the neck, it reminds the wearer of constraints and repressions.

And that’s possibly why a red ribbon choker is the emblem most often associated with a procuress – whilst a plain black choker secretly signifies lesbianism.

On this considerably weighty track a grumbling low bass grinds – like a dwarf elephant that has been slid down a saw-tooth roof.

The main voice is tough – but well sculpted – it is bulkier and thicker-billed than you might expect.

The rhythm swings like a weighted anchor – and the drum drives along the tune – pumping away, provocatively,  in the background.
