We love the idea that Stockholm based indie-rock artist Dotter (aka Johanna Maria Jansson) cites Jefferson Airplane as an influence.
A 1965 counter-culture-era psychedelic rock band? How about that!
Because her sound is so far removed from anything produced by them – and we can not possibly imagine that she is a closet dope-head. Still, it does not matter, we love her all the same.

We have been listening to her glistening new track “My Flower”:
This has an elegant rhythm and vocals that are closer in style and substance to those of Paloma Faith than they are to Lana Del Rey (with whom she is often compared.)
The neatly picked strings and super-tight musicianship do not distract from the ultra-clear voice.
It’s pretty and gluey – but not over-sentimental – and it is dramatic enough to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
And the “I need somebody to love… “ chorus is super-hypnotic and wonderfully cute.
Swedish pop romanticism that is full of imagination, taste and deluxe sexual sensitivity.
