Sara Lowes JB Priestley

Sara Lowes has issued her new track – ‘JB Priestley’ taken from new album ‘The Joy Of Waiting’ ( out 23rd February on From Railings Records.)

Hailing from Manchester via the North East England, Sara’s versatile musicianship transcends into a multi-layered production of brass and piano-laden pop and progressive influences.

The classically led arrangements adorn her psychedelic and jazz infused rock where West Coast sounds are submerged in seventies prog and technicolour pop. Imagine Feist and Cate Le Bon with Stereolab’s songbook.

We have been listening to JB Priestley:

The time travelling multi-dimensionalist genius JB Priestley is the unlikely theme for this quirky song that reminds us of “The Man with the Child in His Eyes” (Kate Bush) with its sequential down-stepping keys, mention of ghostly characters in the half-light and those tender, juicy rumours of sound that seem to float around the edges.

This is dark and bittersweet to begin with, but soon zooshes up.

And then a bumpy bass-note wibbles low and sandwiches itself between layers of accompanying jazz sounds.

Slivers of filamental and slinky electric piano snake away below.

Addictive fun, with a warm, distinctive voice – this song is intertwined with romantic jazziness and is full of symbolism.
