Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sophie Hunger will release a new album Supermoon through Caroline International on May 18 2015.
We had a listen to the upcoming single ‘Love Is Not The Answer’:
Imagine the lo-fi mild randomness of PJ Harvey, perhaps with the clarity and whispering beauty of Sinéad O’Connor and you come close to understanding this sound.
With wobbly bass, chips of acoustic guitar and a wonky keyboard flapping about… the sounds are strewn out like petals from a cherry tree.
And the voice is as smooth and silky as a ribbon rosette. Half-round and half velvety.
New wave and synthpop meet here — embellished with twists of polystyrene and sawdust beats.
Plus, a holy voice that insists that she knows the absolute unknowable.
