In a patchwork career that has moved from triple-crown status to restrained renegade, and that has extended across more than five decades, the American country-blues singer-songwriter RAY WYLIE HUBBARD continues to generate his stylish outlaw country blues with the same degree of skill, enthusiasm, and gumption that he has exemplified since before he wrote Jerry Jeff Walker’s 1973 hit “Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother.”
Now he plans the release of a new album, “Co-Starring Too” (available from March 18 2022) that features (among many incredible talents) such personages as: Ringo Starr, Lzzy Hale, Willie Nelson, Steve Lukather, Cody Canada, Wynonna Judd, and many many more!
An example of the quality to be found on this epic album is “Hellbent For Leather” ft. Steve Earle (lyric video shared below.)
It’s a song filled with integrity, dusty memories, and of course, gritty musicianship. If you’ve a hankering for sourmash tunesmithing, sandpaper shake rhythms, and coffin-bone guitar, and you’re pondering the steadier-simpler days (that are now all turned to cinder in the blazing sun of regret) there is no better place to come!
