Mas Ysa is the work of Thomas Arsenault a Canadian musician, composer and visual artist now in New York, USA.
He supported Purity Ring as part of the Downtown Music Festival in 2013.
He has announced a new track ‘Margarita’ alongside the announcement of his debut album ‘Seraph.’
We had a listen to Margarita:
A few drops of rain fall into a leaky bucket and insects chirrup nearby. That’s how this track starts.
The corrugated roof dribbles. But no need to worry, because this tin cabin of sounds is pure and loving even though it leaks a little.
And that’s what life is like, shelter and safety is not always perfect. We have to compromise.
The voice shines, reflected in some light trapped, and helpful rhythms create a peaceful symmetry.
Even the old croak of a raven helps to elevate this piece.
Brave, intelligent and supernaturally beautiful electronic music, with a voice without blemish and a final dark, glittering finish that helps us deal with life’s fallibility.
