Flaunting Sexual Prowess this Paean to Josephine Baker by Voodoo Sci-Fi Band VIENNA DITTO is Slinky and Smoky

We have already written about London-based band Vienna Ditto and their rockabilly riffs played with an air of jejune and breezy bravado when we covered their single Feeling Good.

The band consists of Hatty Taylor with Nigel Firth — they play an intriguing blend of smoky blues, psychedelic rock and electronica.

Vienna Ditto - dark lushness

Now they release Oh Josephine a New Single from the band’s upcoming LP ‘Circle’ and a gospel ode to the Bronze Venus Josephine Baker.

We had a listen:

There is a dark lushness to this song that immediately makes itself clear in the folds and drapery.

From the first squirts of digestive gases…

To that slinky blue-velvet voice that lowers itself over rat-a-shabby rhythms…

This is a song that conjoins luxury and smokiness… And takes you by the hand into a recessed room in the dirtier part of your mind.

Pinging glockenspiel refractions skip lightly over a chattering beat. Yes, this is sophisticated cabareting street-goth put on for discerning clientele.

All together now: “Oh, oh… Josephine...”

Alluring, and flaunting sexual prowess, this red light offering is made with extra-dark spice
