New Single by Dublin-based Indie PADDY HANNA Recalls Elvis Costello

Dublin (Ireland) native Paddy Hanna — lead singer of ‘Grand Pocket Orchestra’— is set to release a solo single Austria — on Trout Records (Spies, Tandem Felix.)

Dublin is quietly becoming a hotbed of musical activity, with Trout signings and their pals Girl Band at the forefront of it.

Paddy says, of the local scene:

“You can’t throw a stick these days without hitting a solid Dublin band, so if indeed I am a part of that then I’m a happy little clam.”

The A-side ‘Austria’ recalls Elvis Costello at his most melodic, crooning effortlessly over a marching-band-like rhythm section.

Well-mixed and perfectly slurred...
Well-mixed and perfectly slurred…
We had a listen:

The chuckled guitar and the clip-clopping beat froth like a head of hair frizzled senseless by wind near the Dodder.

The voice is Celtic-punk in the structure, maybe not so insolent in the perspective, but all the same… Well-mixed-in and perfectly slurred.

This is rock ‘n’ rolling folky-pop for all those who like softening sounds arched by rainy sky.
