A Divine Revelation — Distinctive Indie-Folk from London’s FLOWER FELLOW

Flower Fellow is the project of Colette Olive, a strong-voiced 17 year-old London-based singer/songwriter.

We have been listening to The Rabbit EP issued last month:

The title track twinkles and shines like a myriad of fireflies at dusk.

The voice (here) is smoky, rich in texture and creates a stressed husky purr that shades out all the light.

The song gradually becomes gloomier, with menacing drum beats that nod like nightshade buds in the dark. Although this song has a complex structure and huge ambition, it is easy to get into and you will soon be seeking solace within its dark folds.

The EP also includes saddened rock majesty in the form of ‘The Yellow Line’ with mannered, breath-filled vocals that reminded us of Chrissie Hynde albeit placed within the baroque-pop world of early Florence and the Machine.

White & Blue’ is like a favourite painting that comes to life. Clockwork rhythms cause the phenomena to begin. Then the priestess spreads her folds while she gathers her forces to harness the spirit of nature.

Superstitious, prophetic, wise and a little Gothic in nature… Here are distinctive indie/folk sounds to soothe and anoint you… A divine revelation.
