The Paris, France power pop trio Lost My Name consisting of Gøoz Lovcé, Meryem Barbet and Julien Portmann have issued their 6-track EP titled DIY.
With over 150,000 plays on Spotify in Canada during the first week of release, their EP has been praised by the Nouvelle Vague, who said:
“A creation as colorful as their cover art, leading us to a rhythmic and energetic world… the singing hip hop and pop blend together and deliver something surprising.”
The band have played with Dirty Loops, Echo & The Bunnymen and, more recently, PVRIS

We had a listen:
Imagine the British band ‘Fine Young Cannibals’ (less trumpet) and with a singer who has Cyndi Lauper’s expressive & unrestrained ebullience and you are at least halfway to the sound of ‘Lost My Name.’
That said, however, this is not punk nor ska. No, it’s pop electrique. With the kind of cling that tenaciously sticks to your clothes like stale smoke after standing too close to the bike sheds.
The disc starts with ‘Get Wild’ — which has huge falls of drums before small trickles of synth run along the gutter line.
The voice is playful and nibbles and jumps like a puppy.
Soon the whole things gets amped, then it reminds us of a eurodance popper — something like Aqua.
Fortunately, there is a thick slice of (possibly useless) dub late in the game. And a decent helping of Eiffel 65-ish plod and strut. So things do not get too mushy.
‘Ain’t Got The Time’ starts with lots of Oh!Oh! alarmed chirping. And then a reggae inspired beat which is really reminiscent of “Uptown Top Ranking” by Althea Forrest and Donna Reid (1977). We liked the spooky Clangers style electric cycle-loops that stream out of the holes like blue string pudding.
‘Rise It Up!’ could very well be rude … But is rebel-hearted.
Guitars chatter and the voice banters while the rhythm cranks & grinds like a sausage manufacturer processing frozen meat from the block.
Fine young electro-pop…
