DION- Girl Friends Album Review

From the late 1950s, the music of Grammy-nominated doo-wop era rock ‘n’ roller DION (Dion DiMucci) of The Wanderer and Runaround Sue fame, has been getting people onto their toes, dancing at the hop.

Few fans of his early work are aware though, that despite Dion’s worldwide recognition for rock ‘n’ roll, he has co-written several albums with modern rock artists. Over the years, this unstoppable musician has released a number of CDs featuring blues and country songs.

A beautifully cadenced hymnic memoir to times-gone-by […] Epiphanic!

His upcoming album of all original penned tracks, titled “Girl Friends” showcases powerful female collaborators.

Dion Girl Friends

Soul Force” featuring Susan Tedeschi is a gritty blues song that is chock-full of determination and tenacious attitude. Susan revives the rough-sand lyrical line with a stylishly soft guitar seltzer. The song has a mindset akin to something from Steve Miller’s back-catalogue, and each-and-every musical vein pulsates with wisdom and understanding.

An American Hero” with Carlene Carter is a free-wheeling and beautifully cadenced hymnic memoir to times-gone-by with consecratory vocal consecratory from Carter. As an anthem of solidarity and universal oneness, this is a fitting and golden contemplation. Epiphanic!

I Aim To Please” with Danielle Nicole is a spangling twinkly rock ‘n’ roll nugget of retro-style fervent energy with juicy vocals & pithy rhythms. Welcome to the hop! This is a high-hoofing jitterbug jamboree!

This is a brave, poetic, and worldly-wise collection of meaningful country songs for a new generation.
