The all-girl thrash-metal band VOICE OF BACEPROT (VOP) fulfilled their dreams this week by becoming the first Indonesian band to play Glastonbury. They also had a show in London, supported by TASH.
Baceprot means “noisy” in the language they use when performing, Sundanese.
The group consists of Firda Marsya Kurnia (vocals and guitar), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Siti Aisyah (drums).
Voice of Baceport brought with them their anthem against environmental despoilers ‘House and Land Not For Sale‘ (video shared below) which is a frighteningly fast eardrum attack that features a superspeedy riff that would make Budgie (Breadfan) fans proud, along with edgy contours, pelleting rhythms, and rapid-rap hiccupingly blazing vocals.
While their songs may seem entertaining escapades, there is definitely a serious side to them, as witnessed in the intent writ large on these musician’s faces. VOP is a proto-visionary experience!
