Jo Carley and The Old Dry Skulls

Three Top Tracks from JO CARLEY AND THE OLD DRY SKULLS

Sweet siren-voiced JO CARLEY and her zombie-voodoo outfit THE OLD DRY SKULLS tie clumps of roots blues, twangy skiffle, bumpy calypso, and classic rockabilly together with Louisiana vines and a vaudeville twist!

Using D.I.Y instruments, lead singer Jo with husband Tim Carley (guitar) along with full time bass player James LeHuray nurture syncopated rhythms & sweet melodies.

bone-cracking bass, boot-heavy black-shaped heartbeats of rhythm…

Raw Ramp

Here are the band’s top three tracks:

Little Dead Lovin’ — this jug-band ghostathon features bone-cracking bass, boot-heavy black-shaped heartbeats of rhythm, and a capering vocal that’s set against a fiery backdrop of fluttering gurgled guitar. Hauntingly swaying!

The Old Dry Skulls

Dose Of Your Medicine — taken from their 2022 album ‘I’ll Put My Voodoo On You’ — is a low-thrum swamp spectre of a song that’s reminiscent of True Blood’s ju-ju witchery. Vampirish and mysterious!

Black Flies — this traverses the Southern croplands via clinkered backroads. A spellbinding concoction of roots blues and country rock, the song perfectly captures both Jo’s icy, crystallised voice and the evident skill of her remarkable band.
