LAURENCE JONES On My Own

LAURENCE JONES, the celebrated British blues-rock artist, has unveiled his debut solo acoustic record, “On My Own.”

This profoundly intimate album emerged from a particularly difficult time in the musician’s life. The album, born from a severe Crohn’s disease flare-up, delves into the artist’s experiences of suffering, remoteness, and contemplation. The songs on the recording candidly explore the challenges of an invisible ailment, the difficulties presented when handling relationships during a period of illness, and the nomadic lifestyle of a touring musician.

For Jones, “On My Own” is not simply a collection of songs… but a testament to his survival, resilience, and the beginning of a powerful new chapter.

The album’s true pivot is the pure truthfulness of his title track. “I was exhausted, in pain, and had lost a lot of weight due to Crohn’s disease. Picking up my guitar became my only release. Playing and writing the blues was the one way I could truly express what I was going through. On My Own became not just a song, but a lifeline,” he says.

Echoing Rory Gallagher’s style, the acoustically finger-picked “On My Own” presents a blues letter with a straightforward yet refined rocking beat, tender vocals, and impressive musicianship in every musical action.

As the musician explains, “I hit rock bottom with my health and couldn’t even leave the house for months. But out of that darkness came some of the most honest music I’ve ever written. Sharing this journey has brought me closer to my fans, and I hope the songs can give comfort to anyone fighting their own battles.”

Get Back Up” (video shared below) is a whizzy plucker with a vibrant voice and a guitar rhythm that will make you nod your head with intent. The song, a testament to resilience and comeback, is poised for success at the concert venues he’ll visit across Spring 2026, during his nationwide tour.

One Life” is a steady skirl. With a voice of mud and gritrock, the buzzing-hornet guitar play is packed with valiant emotion. The words explore personal feelings and thoughts in a way that is not overly sentimental. This piece emanates restorative energy.

This album showcases not only the artist’s mental fortitude and his capacity for self-healing but also serves as a prime example of how the Blues can foster and inspire personal recovery.
