The Derby-based English classic blues-rock band BEGGARS BLISS spent years performing in every rough-hewn venue across the Midlands before even considering studio work.
Unwearied from all their exertion, this May they release their first (self-titled) album. “Beggars Bliss” captures their unadulterated grit-and-punch live sound. Recorded with Natt Webb (The Struts) at RatCat Studios, it’s a straight-shooting, super-energetic collection that comes bumper-packed with excellent tracks from a band that have recently been confirmed for the “Call Of The Wild Festival” 2026.
“Peaches N’ Cream” (music video shared below) begins with a gratifying riff, a pile of energetic rhythms, and intense synth excitement that enhances a basic rhyme and transforms the thrust of the song into a highly memorable chorus-driven anthem.
“I Am I” shakes the foundations of a listener’s soul, breaching the ‘haunt barrier’ and wailing into a signatory riff-based proclamation of intent and repudiation. This piece evokes the ‘Shot to Hell’ era of Black Label Society (in fact, the band bears similarities to BLS in certain aspects and certain lights!) This track serves as an anthem of strengthening purpose and idealistic self-definition.
“Dusk Till Dawn” offers a gentler, strifeless, clean-sounding experience to a blues fan. While, at odds with that, the sledgehammer fuzziness, the ferromagnetic tones and the sizzling full-metal-jacket attitude of “Spirally” will get you marching across a bottle-cap stage wearing volcanic, fire-boots! Yep, it’s a beast!
Be sure to see these promising artists perform live at a venue near you!
