FOE has released a new video “Cold Hard Rock” for the New Year directed by Philippa Bloomfield.
This song, with an incessant drum and a soulful voice, makes you feel like you are being dragged down and under, by damp net, into a torpid rich mix of succulent sounds. A tinklebell accompaniment and a rubbery bass create a dynamic layer before a shiny chorus blossoms into being. Pastrami slices of organ add disquieting textures as the relentless and ominously pounding thrums build up tension, and create a bank of nervy waves.
It is as if all the waiting will end in disaster.
