Matthew E. White is an American songwriter, producer, arranger, and founder of Spacebomb Records.
His album ‘Big Inner’ was one of the year’s surprise successes, and he was named eMusic’s Breakthrough Artist of 2012.
As well as his solo work, White is also known as the leader of the avant-garde jazz big band Fight the Big Bull (for whom he composes and arranges all music) and a former member of rock band The Great White Jenkins.
Matthew E. White has now launched a brand new official video for the intrinsically southern, soulful piece: ‘Steady Pace’.
We had a listen:
A tinkle-tinkle rattlesome percussion laces a boozy boogie-woogie piano and the indolent Pepperlandish verse.
The song takes us down a vacillating and tortuous path – of pebbles and cobwebbed sun traps. Then, eventually, into a gaudy glade of flamboyant and juicy sounds.
The chorus is warm, friendly and moon-shiny. An elephantine horn parps contentedly against purring vocals. And all is well in this delightfully snug cartoony afterlife.
