Symphonic Pictures have announced the video for ‘Feathers’, the lead track from their forthcoming debut EP – released on May 6th.
The Newcastle natives will be playing The Great Escape this month, followed by a string of UK dates and festivals.
We had an early listen to ‘Feathers’ and here’s what we thought:
Starting with glided iced and black glue, then with a shocking squeal of tyres on the grit – and a gravelly flourish of drums – the song suffocates it’s own existence with a series of gasps, gurgles and muted moans.
The slightly shrill disembodied voice moves forward – to deliver its news with an outspoken insistence. But then it is swallowed up by a flourish of crystalline forms and frosty patterns cut into the musk.
The guitars are as bitter-sweet as stem ginger and they cut deep into the moist remains of the melody. It is all fascinating, disconcerting, magisterial and charmingly discordant.
