Norwegian artist Emilie Nicolas is a relatively unknown quantity. Her voice is a gentle and pure mix of delicious sadness and abstruse joy.
She weaves beautiful melodies with strong lyrics. Her work is delicate and beautiful, but at the same time powerful and explosive.
‘Nobody Knows’ is more tender than a tentacle of moss.
The gently swaying body of this song gives way to an embrace of jerky rhythms – then the voice lifts up like a feather that just hangs on a sun ray. Before it wafts further on and into a dazzling skyline.
The jazzy vocal might be feather soft but it also seems to have a will of its own.
This is so tragically angelic.
