Banks Goddess

It’s just a week before Banks issues her debut album “Goddess” through Harvest Records.

L.A. based Jillian Banks plays dark and melancholy R&B.

She says that the sounds she creates helps her release the emotions within her.

Banks - the voice rises and falters... Like a sparrow - doubtful that a nearby predator is fully asleep...

We listened to “Drowning”:

Strange batwing flaps [of rhythm] fill the air.

And the crystal vocal absorbs the moonblood – as it grows strong in the dark velvet of the night-blooming.

The rhythms and sounds that surround the cold-blue ripples of voice influence her precise movements. Like a sail-ship on a molten sea.

And the voice rises and falters. Like a sparrow – doubtful that a nearby predator is fully asleep.

You’ll recognize the progressive sounds in this song – reminiscent of Kate Bush and also notice other more commercial ideas. These may remind you of the sadness and pain of Lana Del Rey.

But all in all – this is a heady concoction. Created by a queen of the night.
