The Slavic bass-wielding punk rock poet named LiVKi releases ‘Dark Blonde Rises’ (subject: The Aurora, Colorado massacre of 2012) – this month.
Although brought up in Germany, Olivia Anna Livki has spent portions of her life in Poland, the UAE, London, and New York.
Her lyrics are as well rounded as her experiences, and her point of view isincisive and poignant.
LiVKi’s funk influenced bass playing is reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, while her garage rock vocal emits shades of Kim Gordon or Karen O.
“Dark Blonde Rises” is a perfect example of LiVKi’s lyrical prowess – the song is released at Halloween on Silver Scream Records.

Tubular areoles of sound speck the background. The acid vocals escape from this rhythmic nucleus – fluted in shape – and full of spike and spine.
The first-person-perspective lyrics rhythmically punctuate the centre-ground of the song – like a dangerous panther.
The ominously sooty bass-notes foretell the black-powder future.
We are not sure of dubious objective of this track – but for simplicity, effectiveness and efficiency – this feels like a dance floor winner.
A full skirt-expanding flash pan of conspicuously cocky beats and hypnotically jerked-off vocals.
