Singer-songwriter Emily Burns ( originally from Rugby UK) is currently in a production contract with Cave Productions at Abbey Road Studios in London. Emily attended a masterclass at Abbey Road Studios in 2010 where she met Rob Cass – who signed her to Cave.
We have been listening to new track “Enemy” recorded and produced by Pearse MacIntyre and Rob Cass:
An off-beat thump and chortling keys create a lazy atmosphere where Emily’s voice can develop freely – this is vanilla and lemon zest – smooth and shiny.
The production quality is sublime (the piano is wonderfully efficient) and the chorus is hypnotic.
But what really stands out is Emily’s improbably high vocal in the last quarter of the song. It’s almost like a nervous laugh in the sense that it is interesting (but you feel bad for wanting more …) And it infects your limbic system – it wiggles into your eardrums. Once it’s in your head, you cannot get it out.
Soft to firm R&B with noggin headed vocals so emotionally raw that they could burn the skin.
