Brooklyn, New York Dream-Pop project Paperwhite are brother & sister act Katie Marshall – (Singer/Songwriter) with Ben Marshall ( production/Co-Writer.)
We have been listening to their new track “Pieces” :
A wonderfully chirpy bass-line adorns the shoulder-shrugging beat.
Katie’s vocal possesses a raspberry razzmatazz – but it’s slinky and sophisticated too.
The rhythmic environment is rich with bed-spring boings and tin-pan disorder (reminiscent of 1980’s Peter Gabriel), and the pace is unruly and bouncy – all very nostalgic.
The Gina G style ooh-ah gushes help move this song to a different place altogether … and they will tickle your toes. It’s shamelessly lively stuff!
Exciting dance-rock – with a relatively sweet (but not syrupy) dark blue indigo voice that is very thin one moment – yet monumental the next.
