Cambridge (UK) based metaphysical post-rockers Tape Runs Out will release their debut double A-side single ‘Friends’ on March 30 through UK label Ear to Ear Records.
The band’s exciting debut LP is expected in autumn 2015.
We had an early listen of the single:
A strangely yellowing hyena-whimper opens this musical chimera.
Is this a half-glimpsed apparition? Part fish-tailed glider — part broken-hearted Persephone? You decide.
Behind the curtains of rhythm, billowing clouds of sound are created — these lift the whole piece from mere mortal — into an altogether otherworldly dimension.
Chromium droplets of sound are sweet in the pale-light, whilst the main vocal seems stark against the gaseous ephemera.
The sense of lightness and vapour lasts right across this piece. Until the extraordinarily conclusive ending.
