For Fans of Foo Fighters — Authentic Rock from Welsh Supergroup BEYOND THE BREAK — Pictures Of Losing Sleep

Beyond The Break are a new rock band from Llanelli in South Wales (UK), which brings together members of Catatonia, 21 Against and Eleven.

They joined together in early 2015. The band were signed to London’s 2p Records, before playing a live show, just on the strength of their demo.

Their debut E.P ‘Pictures Of Losing Sleep’ was recorded  live to tape directly over two weekends, capturing the full essence of the band’s energy, and channelling the likes of Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters.

This will will thrill your socks off...
This will will thrill your socks off…

We had a listen:

Opening track ‘Mother Love’ is a sparkling celebration, filled with dramatic guitar, dandy bass grooves and an exquisitely gravelly voice.

This will give you shudders in the knees and will thrill your socks off.

The Way it Was’ is hotter than a plague of fire ants in your pants.

Jagged slices of high-density metal guitar are shaved off, whilst the dusty vocal from Paul Jones is accentuated strongly against the regular chunging bass rhythms (from Chris Francis.) The rock chorus is completely addictive. This is beautifully harmonized and full of desirable grit.

The final track is the splendid ‘Big Wait’ — this veers towards you with pounding drums (from Aled Richards) and a well founded sense of self-justification.

This track is the most Grohlesque of the pieces here. Defiantly metal-powered — but with a line of grunge-like despair that runs deep through its veins…

This is authentically charred rock with dazzling guitars & the kind of relentless pace that will surely leave you with a headbangover by morning.

Post-grunge perfection from masters-of-the-art…
