Los Angeles California country-blues singer-songwriter Sarah Dashew has released a new single in anticipation of the release of her new full length album : Roll Like a Wheel to be dropped next January 22nd.
On Sarah Dashew’s latest, one can hear her whole musical history: Texas tejano, Southern gospel, and blue-eyed soul — all now wrapped up in a distinctive Los Angeles flavour.
You can still hear James Taylor and Janis Joplin — but there’s clearly a Paul Simon, Graceland-era spirit to the proceedings: The rhythms of her city have combined to imprint themselves onto her album. “More than any other city has done before…” Dashew pronounces. That and finding true and everlasting love.
Roll Like A Wheel was engineered by Eric Lilavois (Saint Motel, My Chemical Romance) and will be released next January.
Meanwhile, we had a listen to Free Ride —
Bone dry rhythms and a hop-filled pace help motivate this song — which is filled with that flame-haired feisty artistry (her voice has a slightly seedy quality, which is so attractive…)
The bouncing Cowboy Stomp will take you right back to the Oak Ridge Boys before gliding you onwards to a glossier Venice Beach.
Lovely, danceable, enduring…
