Arizona hardcore punk quartet AMERICAN STANDARDS are set to release their forthcoming full length album, Anti-Melody on April 28th.
Ahead of the release they have delivered a video for Writers Block Party [see below]
The Phoenix band are famed for their technical hardcore with strong elements of punk and metal.
They formed in 2011 and first recorded in 2012 with We Are Triumphant. Since then they have released four albums, five music videos and a multitude of demos. The band have become known on the circuit for their intense live shows, tongue in cheek demeanour and relentless work ethic.
The outfit bring their 90s hardcore punk and 00s metal-core influenced sounds to a new kind of chaotic metal for Anti-Melody.
“What started as social commentary on the growing divide in our society became very personal when our founding guitarist (Cody Conrad) passed of suicide and then soon after, my father of cancer...” said vocalist, Brandon Kellum.
“We went back to re-write much of the album and in a lot of ways used it as therapy to deal with the experiences. Although very personal, at its core Anti-Melody is centred around the universal theme of separation on many levels.”
Their “Writers Block Party” video [track one from the album] is set at an hipster open-mic session where things are going slow…. But the world opens-up to herald-in the full-faced, fiercely compressed energy and plentiful angular motifs that are buried underneath.
If you like high pressure level, spark-flying metalworking, this one’s for you…
