FRESCO KYOTO — Fool Me Once

Self-recorded, produced and mixed by the band’s own Cody McWaters, ‘Fool Me Once’ is the debut single from Brisbane, Australia’s indie five piece FRESCO KYOTO.

Fresco Kyoto: ‘Fool Me Once’ – A true masterpiece…

With its rhythmic imprint, multi-foliated production and spectacular mechanics, this is a cathartic presentation from the band.

Fresco Kyoto is centered around the sweet voice of Robbie Balmer — one of the most talented young singers in Brisbane…

Their individual and remarkable sound is ambitious and — at times — brooding. Perhaps reminiscent of London Grammar.

We listened to Fool Me Once

Here is overclouded, emulsified enchantment…

The beguiling vocal [ Balmer] rubs shoulders with some blackening contusions of sound laid down by McWaters on bass and electronics plus Ryan de Weijer on guitar. Also some exemplary rhythms from Benjamin Shannon, drums.

This is roily-high and unexpectedly positive without ever dipping into sentimentality. It’s worthy of repeated listens too… A true masterpiece.
