THE DEAD DAISIES 4th studio album “BURN IT DOWN” is a mesomorphic triumph, a cannon-fire fusilade of flaming drums and rhythms, with a demolition of low notes, intense guitars and aggressively confrontative voices that don’t give any kind of shit.

Lighting upon past smiles and happy moments from the 1970s rock movement, the numbers on this album still manage to boomerang-back to the present-day rock soundscape with the merest flick of a wrist, making this outing a triumphant slice of Australian-Anglo-American high-octane, rock hardiness.
Recorded in Nashville with Marti Frederiksen [Aerosmith] at the helm, and with founding member David Lowy (rhythm guitar) joined by “Black Star Riders” bassist Marco Mendoza, “Mötley Crüe” vocalist John Corabi, “Revolution Saints” guitarist Doug Aldrich and “Journey” drummer Deen Castronovo, the band finished recording in December, with Anthony Focx [Beautiful Creatures] once again handling the mix and mastering legend Howie Weinberg [Van Halen] adding the magical touch..
John Corabi says: “I’m extremely excited about our new record […] It’s a balls-out old school rock record! Enjoy it and see you all on our massive 2018 World Tour!! Peace, Crabby”
Doug Aldrich is to the point: “The new Daisies album will melt your face! It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound.”
Launching with “Resurrected” with low grunts of guitar and muddy riffs, ashen vocals and sliding tar-like bass, this song is reminiscent of something that Velvet Revolver might have done long ago.
But it also has the dark attitude of grease on leather and oiled-up patchwork of Black label Society. Crabby’s voice is as dusty as a miner’s saddle, four nights along the 49ers Siskiyou Trail, and the musical mastery is, of course, monstrously good.
“Rise Up” is a choppy cutter with toothed guitars, Deep Purplish va-va-voom and a liberal political refrain. It seems kinda based upon the vibrations, the attitude and even the melody of Stevie Wonder’s reincarnation song: “Higher Ground” (so there’s the connection there with Resurrected, huh?)
So, yeah, for this one you’ll need to stick yo shades on, open the god-dam roof of your cabriolet, get your system blaring the loudest it will go and start cruising the Memorial Road on Hillcrest Avenue, west of Macon… Oh yeah, this is freaky-dark and ultra-melodic.
