Originating back in 2008 “Girl Like Me” was recorded by SHAKIRA with WILL.I.AM in his studio long before this global pandemic forced such cuddly coactions to be the stuff of legends. After creating several versions of the song, the favored rendition now makes it onto “Translation” — the eighth BEP studio album, released June 2020 (video shared below.)
Also appearing on the Latin-pop flavored confection “Translation” were such notables as: J Balvin, Ozuna, Maluma, Nicky Jam, Tyga, El Alfa, Piso 21, Becky G, and French Montana.
Can you believe that the honestly hipped Colombian megastar is forty three? No, neither can we! She doesn’t look much more than 22 as she goofs around on her skateboard in a slick vid that evokes memories of that whole “Call On Me” thing (Eric Prydz) 2004.
This Mexicano solicitation is a mixture passion fruit vocals and paletas style sweet beats with inocente lyrics and the type of jocund chutzpah you thought was long gone with Monkey Business — oooh — back in somewhere like ’04.
But its the the Japanesey snarf on this number that is the sweetener. Delicioso!
