The allegorical British singer-songwriter and musical transcendentalist ARLO PARKS made her solo-debut through “Cola” out via Beatnik Records in November 2018.
After the release of “Cola” the Londoner signed with Transgressive Records to release an EP, Super Sad Generation, in January 2019. She first performed at The Great Escape in Brighton in May 2019 and then performed on the BBC Music Introducing stage at Glastonbury, 2019.
At just twenty years old, her bedroom pop-folk balladry is jazzy, nuanced and often meditative, and delivered with a warm voice of beeswax and satinette ginger.
“Hope” (video shared below) is a precious gem taken from her newly released debut album: Collapsed in Sunbeams:
With cleverly acerbic lyrics sat within spitting distance of ravishing sweetness and enchanting gracefulness this song is about persuasive aspiration, but also brings the anguish of hurtful memory, which is why she never quite assuages the listener, but instead pleads warmly for awareness and understanding.
If you’re feeling low this February… this is where to go.
