The Bath based Welsh indie-folk and americana artist JANE ALLISON has released her lead single “Magdalene” from a upcoming album, to be titled “Like Magdalene”
The song is written about “the queen of love” and has been produced by Kula Shaker bassist Alonza Bevan.
The actress Jane (Stanness ) might be known to you as the character Mary in the 2020 Sky TV comedy series “Intelligence” in which she acts alongside David Schwimmer.
But her singer-songwriter credentials were already well-validated with the psychedelic folk band Childe Roland which she performed with in the early 1990s.
She first worked with Alonza Bevan back in 2012 (on the track titled “Catch Me”) and she released a second album “Methylene Blue” in 2017.
The new single “Magdalene” has a country rock sway which comes packed with a satisfying unmuffled squelch and twinkly guitar. The voice is scrubstone-denim and mulberry wine: so it yields the aroma of brambled apple-blossom.
Yep, this is fragrantly filigreed and frocked!
