Liverpool-born, now Brighton-resident, singer/songwriting minstrel and venerable musician’s musician Mickey ‘Mick’ Wynne a.k.a. THE WORLD OF MICK has revealed a new single titled ‘All Quiet’ with an accompanying video, released Friday 18th June on all digital platforms. The video is shared below.
The dramatic footage, produced by visual-artist Vladimir Jaksic, begins with glowing, perfectly controlled time-lapse processes and was filmed in a local nature reserve and steep-edged gorge known as Devil’s Dyke, near Mick’s hometown in Sussex, England, along with scenes in the town of Brighton.
“the odds are stacked against the ordinary working man or woman…”
Artistically, the number is multifaceted, as you might imagine from a composer with Wynne’s experience and insight, and comes packed with remarkable rhythms and subtle percussion, plus (of course) exquisite guitar-play.
The song offers engaging Lollywood-style tabla beats combined with edgy guitar bravery; packaged into a smooth, country offering that accentuates a dry ‘n rhythmic Dylan-like voice as Mickey quickfires-out some remarkably agile speech patterns. If you think this song sounds something like Ringo Starr might have done (maybe in his Beaucoups of Blues days) it’s not surprising… the men share derivation and pedigree!
All Quiet’ comes from Wynne’s first full studio album entitled ‘Mick I’ which, we at RAW RAMP thought, offered, “blues of satisfaction, cleverly rendered skiffle beats, joy-filled vocal harmonies and catchy choruses…”
About the song, the musician comments: “ I wrote this while I was working on a project in Karachi. It’s a snapshot of life out East; also about how the odds are stacked against the ordinary working man or woman getting on anywhere in the world.”
Micky Wynne THE WORLD OF MICK is presently assembling material for his, follow-up album, ‘MICK II’, and aiming to finish editing/mixing in the coming months.
