UK Oldham based classic rockers DARE — formed in 1985 — feature the singer-songwriter and keyboardist Darren Wharton (ex-Thin Lizzy) on lead vocals.
Current members of the long-lived project include guitarist Vinny Burns (who has also worked with Ten and Asia), the thunder-thumbing bassist Nigel Clutterbuck, the live keyboardist (and pro D.J.)Marc Roberts, and the drummer Kevin “Kev” Whitehead (who has also worked with John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest).
Their critically acclaimed albums Sacred Ground (2016) and Out Of The Silence 2 (2018) both reached #1 in the Amazon Classic Rock Charts in four countries including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain, and the classic rock top ten in many other territories.

The band are set for an exciting return this Spring when they roll out their tenth studio album, titled Road To Eden on Friday 1st April 2022 issued via Legend Records.
Road To Eden is bound to be another incandescent DARE manifestation and is produced by their very own Darren Wharton at his studio in the spectacular mountains of North Wales. The new album has a hungrier bolder rock edge than previous albums, whilst still preserving the reverberating sonic depth we have become accustomed to. This delivers the propulsive crescendo-boosting melodiousness that has become this band’s characteristic stylemark.
“Road To Eden” features ten brand new awesomely finessed songs that embrace the spirit of everything they stand for.
As a taster of what’s to come, the first single from the album “Born in the Storm” is released today (Jan 14th 2022). Arriving with a tangle of synthesizers and guitars (the storm comes) the vocal draws closer, contemplatively, so the atmosphere retains a sense of real threat. The melancholic chords are soulful and provocative, and the bass notes bubble at the heart of the song like a multitude of witches circling a seething burble of cauldrons. The riff is super efficient and the lead guitar cuts through the ferment like a sickle saber. Plus, you’re guaranteed to sing the catchy chorus several hours after hearing it for the first time!
With a full headline UK tour set for the UK in October 2022, plus dates in Spain, Scandinavia, and Germany, it’s going to be an exciting year for the band. (dates below)
