The Dutch jazz-rock guitarist JAN AKKERMAN will release his new album ‘My Focus – Live Under the Rainbow‘ on 12 December 2025 via Artone/Music Theories Recordings.
The album takes in his work with Focus along with choice morsels from his illustrious solo career.
Akkerman, along with Thijs van Leer, initiated the progressive rock project Focus in the early seventies. Their critically acclaimed live album At the Rainbow was recorded at London’s famed Rainbow Theatre on May 5th, 1973.

In that same year, Akkerman was voted Best Guitar musician by the readers Melody Maker. In 1992, Akkerman was involved in a serious car accident, but he resumed playing in 1993.
Akkerman’s live performances are breathtakingly good. “My Focus – Live Under the Rainbow” allows the listener to experience his musical expertise and characterful tonality in an up-close and personal atmosphere.
Live Under The Rainbow, which was recorded during Akkerman’s February 2025 tour with his band, explores his legendary work with Focus, starting with the release’s first song, “Answers Questions – Questions Answers,” and continuing through the hugely successful hits “Hocus Pocus,” “Sylvia,” and pieces “Focus I” and “Focus II“.
“I play these songs because my soul and heart are in there. It’s a God given talent I have, which makes me feel proud of myself!” he says.
